NEWS... BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Beth Sinclair has spent the last decade amassing a huge hoard of Hello Kitty memorabilia.
The cleaning business owner’s massive collection includes everything from pencil cases and Hello Kitty shaped food to dog treats and even a glass butt plug worth £57.
The mum-of-one has spent an impressive £15,000 on the memorabilia, with Beth’s 3,000 strong collections also including homemade t-shirts, blankets, rugs, official Sanrio skateboard decks worth over £70, and a Swarovski Hello Kitty shaped crystal worth a £530.
Beth, from Piqua, Dayton, Ohio, US, has filled a spare room in her home from floor to ceiling with the merchandise, which is now decked out with shelves full of soft toys, Funko Pops and mini figurines.
Beth, 44, said: ‘I don’t know what it is about Hello Kitty that makes me love it so much. I just think she looks adorable and having a few plushies of hers more than ten years ago, bought a bit of comfort during a dark period of my life.
‘Since then, I haven’t stopped collecting pieces everywhere I go.

‘I’ve even got a Hello Kitty tattoo, which was £153 and Hello Kitty themed piercings.
‘A lot of my cleaning clients know all about my obsession and have picked things up for me on their travels or donated their children’s Hello Kitty toys when they’ve grown out of them.’
Friends and family love Beth’s collection, which also includes Hello Kitty Tamagotchi toys, tutus for her dogs, pandora bracelet charms, a steering wheel cover and lots of stickers.
She said: ‘It’s hard to put a value to everything I’ve collected over the years, and I’m not even sure that 3,000 pieces is an exact figure of everything I own as it is tough to keep track.
‘My most expensive pieces were the Swarovski Hello Kitty crystals which my partner, Michael, 49, gifted to me, they cost around £530.
‘I also have more than 100 stuffed Hello Kittys and lots of Funko Pops which cost anything between £3 from thrift stores, to around £38 for newer items.
‘I have a Hello Kitty mini fridge which is quite cool, they can sell for around £130 second-hand, and I’ve got quite a few food items that I have never opened yet like Hello Kitty shaped pasta and Hello Kitty themed pasta sauce.’
After posting about it on social media, Beth’s Hello Kitty room has started to earn quite a bit of attention.
She said: ‘My friends and family think I’m a bit crazy for collecting all this stuff, but they’re the first ones to call me about an item they’ve spotted if they think I don’t have it yet.
‘They’re always gifting me new items to add to my shelves, that I’m starting to run out of room.
‘I put a post-up on Facebook of my collection, and it got about 7,000 likes, I’ve had lots of people message me since posting, and they’re sending me even more items for my collection.’
One day, Beth hopes to claim the Guinness World Record for biggest Hello Kitty collection, and wants to be able to travel the world to visit such sites as a Hello Kitty themed plane, a dentist, and Hello Kitty world in Japan.
